Who We Are

All over Europe some 110 civil society organisations and more than 7000 active citizens have given their support to the 'Europe, Vote for Peace!' campaign and our proposals.

The main organisers of this initiative and the related Peace Project Europe events are:

Forum Ziviler Friedensdienst (forumZFD) with headquarters in Bonn, works on alternatives to violence with field projects in the Western Balkans, the Middle East, the Philippines and in Germany. ForumZFD deploys trained peace consultants in long-term projects, its Academy for Conflict Transformation offers a variety of qualification courses and trainings to prepare civilians for peace work. With more than 40 member organisations and around 450 individual members in Germany the organisation also advocates for civilian approaches to dealing with conflict, both in Germany and at the European policy level.

Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a membership-based global organisation with the objective to build a non-partisan unarmed peacekeeping force composed of trained civilians from all around the world. In partnership with local partners, Nonviolent Peaceforce field teams apply proven nonviolent strategies to protect human rights, deter violence, and help create space for local peacemakers to carry out their work. Headquarters are in Brussels, currently NP has field presence in Sri Lanka, the Philippines and it is exploring new projects in South-Sudan and Georgia.

Mouvement pour une Alternative Non-violente (MAN) is a non-profit organisation with some twenty local branches and membership situated all over France. The national secretariat is based in Paris, the Peace Project Europe events in May 2010 will be organised by the local group in Lyon. MAN's mission is to promote the use of nonviolence and constructive conflict management in everyday life, in education as well as in social and political struggles. MAN also coordinates the French Comité Intervention Civil de Paix (ComitéICP) to promote nonviolent third-party intervention in international conflicts.
